Conventional urinals use between 1.5-3 gallons per flush. In
addition every time the urinal needs to be flushed the user needs to touch the
flush handle which is a major source of bacteria. Waterless urinals solve both
of these issues. On average a waterless urinal will conserve 45,000 gallons of
water per year. In addition, since no flushing occurs the user has no contact
with the urinal eliminating the possibility of contact with bacteria.
Furthermore, there will be no stagnant water for bacteria to grow in since no
water is used in the urinal.

The waterless urinals are designed to be 99% urine resistant
so that the urine goes directly into the base of the urinal. During this
process it passes through Blueseal liquid which forms a barrier keeping the
urine and vapors in the piping from being released back into the restroom. Once
enough urine collects under the Blueseal it overflows in the main drain line
without the use of any water. The Blueseal liquid has to be replenished after
about 1500 uses but requires no contact with the urinal. Lastly, besides
conserving water and eliminating bacteria the waterless urinal can also reduce
costs. This is because the user will save on water and maintenance costs such
as deodorizers and flush valves/levers. For more information on this technology
