The Friends of Usambara have developed a unique
model for their ecotourism organization, contributing both to the village funds of localities they visit as well as charging each visitor an environmental fee that goes to towards conservation meaures within the area. They also incorporate
concepts of natural resources management and environmental enterprise
into their tours and have recently begun environmental clubs in local
primary schools through the Environmental Enterprise Development
Initiative.
