Kate Davenport has comprehensive experience in youth leadership training, community development, environmental analysis, conflict resolution training, and environmental enterprise. She sees the vital importance of a holistic approach to environmental challenges and economic prosperity and has chosen career opportunities to widen, develop, and diversify such an understanding.
Kate has spent several years working and exploring the link between environmental management and small business development in both the private sector and non-profit sector. She has been part of the EcoVentures International team in which she managed environmental enterprise development projects and trainings and analyzed opportunities for environmental business industries in both domestic and international contexts. After several years of environmental enterprise development and support, Kate spent two years working directly within environmental enterprises leading to direct interplay with the challenges and opportunities facing small and medium environmental enterprises. She managed operations for a start-up environmental microenterprise providing organic waste removal and reuse services for commercial clients in the Washington DC and Philadelphia area. Looking to widen her range of private sector environmental enterprise experience, Kate co-managed the development of an internal Member Care Center for Flexcar, a national car-sharing company in a restart-up phase and oversaw the transition of the Member Care Center during the merger with Zipcar, a national competitor. Kate spent several years as a leader in the youth sustainable development movement particularly as a part of SustainUS, the US Youth Sustainability Network. She continues to work with and help run a Quaker wilderness/teen leadership program and sees working with young people as a continued theme for life. Kate has a B.A. in History and African Studies with a Minor in Child Development from Tufts University.
