A highly motivated person, Juan Pablo devotes himself to building bridges between humans and technology in order to increase productivity and long life learning. He has worked for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Human Development Reports office as a Knowledge Management Specialist. Using his IT expertise, he was in charge of their portal and all related IT developments, including the deployment of new technologies to manage Communities of Practice on human development related themes. His knowledge in IT began while he was working for the Universidad de los Andes - Media Lab (Bogota, Colombia) during his engineering studies. As an IT researcher and project manager, he worked in several cutting edge projects for the Gold Museum of Bogota and Expo Lisbon.
As an initiative of Trust for the Americas - Organization of
American States in Washington DC, Juan Pablo co-founded LEADAmericas, a
community of individuals and organizations dedicated to empowering young leaders
in the Americas through the use of IT, to make a difference in their societies.
More specifically he acted as Manager, Co-founder and IT consultant, developing
projects such as "Business Incubators in Latin America," a program that help
small and medium business enterprises in the region.
Juan Pablo brings with him a unique international perspective, and extensive
experience in Information Technologies, web enabled IT solutions and Knowledge
Management. His has a keen sense of how these skills can best be used in
today's world. When he is not in front of a computer look for him underwater
(he is an advanced diver) or flying through the sky (he is a
sky-diving Freeflier with a private pilot's license).
