Curricula for Enterprise Development Print E-mail
EVI uses an integrated, agrikitparticipative, experiential and youth-friendly training and curriculum development methodology, which allows young people and members of the community to actively engage in sustainable development issues. EVI training materials focus on fostering creativity, environmental and social impact assessment, entrepreneurial thinking, negotiation and compromise, business ethics, and socially responsible risk-taking. Learning occurs through participating in a process that allows individuals to formulate questions, start experiencing solutions, reflect on lessons learned, and apply such lessons. This process invites a range of learning styles and is highly adaptable to different cultural and social contexts.

Feedback on the curricula, training, and training-of-trainers continually reinforces our confidence in the materials, and our drive to create new and better resources and variations on our current products to suit even the most specific needs.

EcoVentures International's Curricula for Enterprise Development includes:
  • Marketplace Simulation: A role-playing simulation that provides marketplace and business skills training, allowing participants to experience the business, personal, and social interactions of a growing marketplace.  Participants learn about the roles of different market actors and develop the ability to interact, build relationships, negotiate and cooperate with different value and supply chain actors.
  • Sustainable Business Ventures: A youth-oriented entrepreneurship training series with modules for all ages.  Sustainable Business Ventures introduces business and entrepreneurship concepts through practical, fun activities and discussions and through the use of mini-marketplace simulations.  Environmental considerations and growing opportunities in green business are integrated into each topic area to allow participants to understand entrepreneurship in the context of our changing world.
  • AgriPlanner Simulation: A farming-as-a-business simulation that uses experiential, simulated role-plays during which participants interact to learn complex agriculture-related farming lessons.  The Agriplanner curriculum incrementally introduces critical agribusiness components, with topics ranging from strategic use of farm land and managing seasonality issues when planning your agribusiness, to understanding agricultural business cycles and marketing skills.
  • SavePower!: A learning system within the context of a fun simulation game that enables learners to experience and understand the systems required to run their own village savings and loan group (also known as ASCAs, cajas rurales, or self-help groups).  Within a period of one or two days, learners have mastered the technical aspects, recognized and discussed the potential difficulties, and set up a range of rules and policies to simulate the set up of their own savings group.
