The African Institute of Technology (AIT)'s objective is to create common-sense, technically based solutions to challenges facing Africa's communities. It deals with technical and business education training and is currently undergoing a transformation to become an institute of higher learning. AIT conducts workshops and trainings in general business and entrepreneurial skills for small businesses and non-profits. The four paid staff are supported by six youth volunteers, who also participate in the training and learning.
The organization is developing and piloting a workshop on "Resource mobilization for young entrepreneurs". It covers the topics of capacity building, strategic planning, integrated strategic financial planning and project management for small businesses.
AIT has been involved in EEDI since the initial planning and development of the concept. Mr. Nazar Nicholas, AIT Director, is also one of the founding members of Jane Goodall's "Roots and Shoots" program, which is now on an international scale. He is also involved in the development of the Tanzania Youth Bank, a financial institution that provides financial resources for youth and young entrepreneurs.
